What are Start Up and Shut Down times and how do I use them?

This article will cover start-up and shutdown times on services and how you can use them to manage particular services that require preparation before they can be done at the start of the day or require clean-up at the end of the day.

What are Start Up and Shut Down Times?

Start Up time prevents certain services from being booked until after the business has been open for a set amount of time in a day. This can be used if you need to put some preparation time into your rooms and/or equipment when you open before you can provide particular treatments.

Shut Down time prevents certain services from being booked a set amount of time before the business closes and is typically used if you need to clean up at the end of the day after providing particular treatments.

Start Up and Shut Down times apply to the business opening hours and not a staff member's scheduled working hours.

How Does it Work?

In the example below, the 3/4 Leg Wax service takes 30 minutes to perform and has a 30min start up time and a 30min shut down time.

The business opening hours are 9 am (the green line represents the opening time) to 8 pm (the pink line represents the closing time).

Online Booking

The earliest online booking appointment available is 9:30 am. This is because the business doesn't open until 9 am and the start up time is 30mins.

The hour calendar space between 8-9 am in the example above is not available because start up and shut down times apply to the business opening hours and not a staff member's scheduled working hours.

The latest online booking appointment available is 7pm. This is because the service takes 30 minutes to perform, has a 30min shut down time, and the business closes at 8 pm.

Making a Booking In-House

If a staff member attempts to book a service within it's start up or shut down time, they will receive a warning notification. Clicking No on the warning will stop the service from being booked while clicking Yes will allow staff to continue with the booking.
