This article will show you how to remove a Phorest license key from a computer or change a license key to point to another business while using either an Apple Mac or a Windows computer.
This guide is only applicable if you have already installed and activated Phorest on the computer before. If you are looking to install Phorest on a new computer, check out our guide on how to generate a new Phorest license key.
If you don't have access to generate a license key yourself, contact support@phorest.com, and we can send a license to you. Important to note that our Support team will need authorization from the account owner before providing a license key.

Generate a New License Key
If you are trying to change your license key, start by generating a new key first and note down the new key once generated (you will need this in the final step). Click here to find out how to generate a new license key.
Removing Your Current License Key (Apple Mac)
- If Phorest is currently open, shut down Phorest.
- In the top toolbar of your Mac, click Finder > Go > Go to Folder (or press Cmd+Shift+G at the same time)
- In the search box enter ~/.memento and press Go.
- In this folder, find the memento.cfg file, right-click and Move to Trash
- Your license key is now removed. Launch Phorest again, and you will be prompted to enter a new license key.
Removing Your Current License Key (Windows)
- If Phorest is currently open, shut down Phorest.
- Click the yellow Folder icon on your taskbar at the bottom of your screen (or press Windows Key+E on your keyboard at the same time)
- Double-click into your (C:) drive
- Open the Memento7 folder
- Find the memento.cfg file, right-click and Delete it.
- Your license key is now removed. Launch Phorest again, and you will be prompted to enter a new license key.
Activating your New License Key
Once your old license key has been removed, open Phorest, and you will be prompted to register a license key. Use the new key that you generated earlier.
