Download and Install the Driver
First, make sure your receipt printer is powered on and connected.
Next, download Epson's Advanced Printer Driver for TM-T88V here, making sure to choose the right operating system. Once downloaded, Extract and run this installation file:
After installation, a window opens to register the printer. Set the Port Type to USB, the Port to Auto setup, then click Save Settings and Next.
The printer should now be successfully installed, and it's time to configure a COM port.
Installing the Virtual Port Driver & Assigning a Port
Next, download Epson's TM Virtual Port Assignment Tool here, then extract and run the file.
In the Virtual Port Assignment Tool, select any COM port that's not currently in use, then click Assign Port. You should see the TM-T88V printer on the next pop-up screen. Select it and click OK.
Take note of the port number that you assigned, as you'll need this in the next step.
Configure the Printer in Phorest
Next, Open Phorest and go to Manager > Settings > Point of Sale > Receipts.
Set the Receipt Printer to your Epson printer, set the Virtual COM port to the port you noted down earlier, then choose your Print Receipt option.
Once you've selected the above, click Save to finish. Your receipt printer is now connected to Phorest.
Automatically Opening Your Cash Drawer/Till
First make sure the cash drawer is connected to the receipt printer and powered on.
Go to your computer's Devices and Printers settings. You can find this by opening your Windows search menu (press the Windows key on your keyboard) and type 'Devices and printers' to search and select it.
Once here, right-click on the Epson printer and select Printing Preferences.
Then, go to the Peripherals tab, select Cash Drawer from the Peripherals dropdown menu, set both Cash Drawer options to Open, then click Apply > OK.
The cash drawer should now open when a sale is processed in Phorest.
Fixing the Blank Space at the Top of Receipts
If you're finding there is blank space at the top of your receipts, go to your computer's Devices and Printers settings. You can find this by opening your Windows search menu (press the Windows key on your keyboard) and type 'Devices and printers' to search and select it.
Next, right-click on your Epson printer and select Printing preferences.
Then go to the Paper/Quality tab, set the Paper Source to Top Bottom, and click Apply > OK.
The blank space should no longer appear on your receipt printouts.
